LeBron James Backs Up Tim Tebow

ESPN - Opinion on Tim Tebow’s NFL future is clearly divided, but count LeBron James among the many fans of the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback. James took to Twitter on Wednesday, supporting Tebow and proclaiming, “Tim Tebow will succeed in the NFL. He’s a hard worker, a student of the game, a natural born leader and most of all a WINNER! It takes time and he’ll be nice.” James’ tweets were in response to comments from ESPN NFL analyst Merril Hoge’s criticism of Tebow earlier Wednesday on Twitter and “SportsCenter.” James, the Miami Heat star who has dealt with his own share of media criticism, then used Twitter to back Tebow late Wednesday night. “Listened to Merril Hoge today on SC and he was just blasting Tebow. The man hasn’t even play a full season and its only his 2nd year in,” James wrote. “Guys get on that TV and act like they was all WORLD when they played. How bout encouraging him and wishing him the best instead of hating!!

As much as I hate LeBron and think he deserves being hated on I do like some Tim Tebow.  The NFL is way different than the NBA.  It takes more work to transform your game to the NFL style and learn the playbook.   Nobody expected Tebow to come in a dominate right away.  Most knowledgeable people realized it would take a couple years. He will still get in this year on some goal line plays and do what he does best.  As for hating on him I don't think Merril was hating, more so observing how far he has come as a NFL QB, which isn't very far as of now.  So I can still tell LeBron to shut the hell up and win something before he talks.

  1. It's hard to take a position on this one... Tebow isn't great, but will probably find a way to stay around for a while (hope so because he seems like a decent guy). Hoge should've gone a little easier on him, though. As much as I rooted for LeBron to lose to the Mavs because things have gone to his head (this coming from someone who went to Cleveland to see him play five years ago), I actually think this wasn't so bad on his part. It might have been partially self-serving since Tebow is well liked and LeBron's riding the wave of sympathy, but I feel like putting aside my cynicism for a day.

  4. Since when is Lebron a sports expert? I'm sorry, the dude can play basketball, but it's hard for me to take a guy seriously when he grew up rotting for the Chicago Bulls, Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees.
