Jayson Carter is 4'9, 130 Pounds and Plays RB for the Rice Owls (Video)

One of the smallest guys I have ever seen play ball. At 4'9 he is legally a midget. He plays running back for the Rice Owls, and is a first year walk on.

His player profile is pretty bare, and it might stay that way.  Hard to imagine this guy making a big impact.  I like how the coach said he is "competitive at the running back position."  To bad he couldn't say he was talented at the running back position.  Then he goes on to say "we'll find him a spot where he can help us, I don't know in what capacity yet." Sorry bud, but looks like you will be helping out with the water on the sideline.  He has yet to receive a play this year.

I love a feel good story like the next person, but I don't see this guy being anything special on the football field.  Luckily he was the valedictorian at his high school.

  2. I dont know who wrote this but why dont you look at what this guy has accomplished and quit being so damn negative. Your probably one of those nerds that never even played the game. CHUMP! He is one a D1 football team. Not many people can say that.

  3. Bob Cousy was a bit short for Basketball and look what he did on the Court. Give the "little Guy" the ball and see what he can do. Good-Luck Jayson.

  4. Yeah, I 2nd that what a chump indeed. Writer obviously doesn't have a clue. One of my favorite players Gerald "Ice Cube" McNeil wasn't very big or how about Darren Sproles. If the young Mr. Carter has some speed he'd be next to impossible to find behind blockers and tough to tackle due to his size. Find the right situation and he might just excel and the writer can choke on his/her words.

  10. I'm a former Rice Owl who had the distinction of being part of an 0-11 team. It would figure that we would be the school that would have a legal midget make our team. I admire the kid for his apparent heart, passion ,and desire, but in D-1 football I can't see how he get out there at all. At 6'2" and 170 lbs. I felt small. At least he's so short he can easily duck and you'd have a hard time getting to his legs.

  14. Its about time we started ignoring the knuckle walkers and began giving some credit to innate intelligence. The guy was valedictorian of his HS graduating class - c'mon who cares about these idiots who think they are above the law and can't even write their own name. We give them millions of dollars and they stuff it up their nose or into their arm.

Much like this "journalist" is nothing special as a writer. As you continue to try and tear this guy down, remember to swing upward since you are already beneath him anyway.

Piss poor excuse for journalistic integrity.

  19. To the hack that wrotte this...
Midget is a derogatory term, you twit.
Tiny Archibald or Spud Webb would slap the taste outta your mouth. Height is not the only measure.

It is doubtful you could get a ladder tall enough to stand eye to eye with this young man. Shame on whoever edits this tool.
