Thursday Night Fantasy Football Pick-Up and Start, Week 7

The Thursday Night games have been pretty boring this year, with few reasons to watch other than fantasy and gambling implications. This week might be the exception, as the Seahawks travel to face the 49ers.

Every week I'm profiling one sparsely-owned player from Thursday's game that you can (notice I'm not saying should) pick up and start. Ya know, get your Thursday night fantasy fix if you don't have a stud player going.

So without further adieu, this week's player is...

Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Besides the sheer awesomeness that comes with being a native Richmonder, Wilson possesses all the attributes you want in a franchise QB, save for height. The 5'11 Wilson hasn't let that get in the way though, and is coming off of a career game against New England, throwing for 293 yards and 3 TDs, good for a 133.7 rating.

The Niners D is stout, allowing the fifth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season. However, I think they'll be keyed in on stopping the "Beast Mode" of Marshawn Lynch, allowing for Wilson to potentially hurt them through the air.

I see Wilson having a solid game, something to the tune of 225 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT, with a smattering of rushing yards thrown in. Nothing spectacular, but with starting QBs like Peyton, Matt Ryan, Mike Vick, and Philip Rivers all on byes, you could do a lot worse...like say, starting Blaine Gabbert.
